The State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SHACU), working with the Uganda Police Force, has arraigned Vincent Mugisha in Kyenjojo Chief Magistrate’s Court over charges of obtaining money by false Pretenses and cheating.
The case follows allegations that Mugisha defrauded Sylvia Kababiito of Shs11 million in a purported cattle sale.
According to prosecutors, between March and September 2025, Mugisha allegedly obtained the money from Kababiito under the pretense of selling her cattle — a transaction that turned out to be fraudulent.
Mugisha has also been linked to multiple land disputes in Kyenjojo District, with complaints of land grabbing, trespass, and malicious property damage, particularly in Ganyinayo Village, Kihuura Sub-county.
SHACU officials say investigations into Mugisha’s activities are ongoing, with more victims coming forward alleging losses of land through similar schemes.
The case highlights the government’s intensified crackdown on land and property fraud in western Uganda, where residents have increasingly fallen prey to such scams.
Mugisha remains in custody as further court proceedings and investigations continue.
